Description 4 3/4″ x 7″ approximately. We consulted several experts in the US and Italy. The consensus is it’s not 16th Century but most likely 17th Century. No one has seen this particular image. A durer expert thinkgs it’s after Durer no monogram present, possibly from a Spanish print maker. Another expert considers it might be from Eastern Europe in the Byzantine tradition. Another suggests it was printed in Naples by a Greek print-maker. Here’s how we found this particular print: We bought a collection of books and papers from the 16th to the 20th Century. We found this print and 2 documents on vellum dated in the 1500s laid in a mid-16th Century book. Doesn’t date the print from that century as it certainly could just be coincidental. Slight tear else small ink stain, few very minor creases at tips. A lovely example of a breastfeeding Madonna print. *
